A pair of new Bing Stories episodes tell the heartfelt tales of legendary cartoonist Johnny Hart and retail giant DICK’S Sporting Goods.
The award-winning content embodies Visit Binghamton’s brand and its invitation to “Be Part of Our Story.” Each of the 22 episodes produced to date profiles the places and faces of the Greater Binghamton community to highlight an endlessly fascinating past filled with creative visionaries as well as a limitless future fueled by passionate business and nonprofit leaders.
The newest batch includes the story of late B.C. Comics and Wizard of Id creator Johnny Hart, whose grandsons have carried the torch for the beloved series of strips syndicated worldwide to this day. B.C. premiered in 1958 and became a pop culture staple that Hart adapted to support countless community groups and establish the beloved PGA tournament that put Greater Binghamton on the golf map.

Another episode captures the history of DICK’S Sporting Goods as told by Kim Myers, the daughter of founder Dick Stack who has witnessed the growth from a small Binghamton storefront to more than 850 locations coast to coast. She explains how their humble roots influenced the company culture of community giveback and DICK’S ongoing commitment to Greater Binghamton, where the largest House of Sport location is hosted today.
