ABCers Share Their Favorite Projects

From time to time, we like to look back on some of our favorite projects and give insight into how they came to be, so we asked the ABC team to describe the creative endeavors that have inspired them most over recent years.

The Volunteer Firefighter Magazine

Our Director of Content Development Shane Liebler takes particular pride in the bi-monthly magazine we produce for the Firefighters Association of the State of New York.

The Volunteer Firefighter is a quintessential piece of content marketing that ABC has been privileged to produce for about two decades. Little more than a newsletter when it first arrived in our hands, the magazine has grown to become one of the premier publications of its kind in the country.

It’s a distinction Shane has helped maintain for more than nine years with ABC, which as an agency edits, writes and designs its 50-odd pages of volunteer firefighter-focused feature articles and columns every other month.

McMahon Ryan 20th Anniversary

Our Owner and Creative Director Travis Bort chose a video we created for McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center’s 20th anniversary. Instead of creating the typical timeline-driven piece, ABC told a truly engaging story by adding the first-hand impact of the nonprofit’s important work in our community.

We documented the history of the Center before showing an emotional interview with a child abuse survivor. The result was a video that didn’t just tell about McMahon Ryan’s services, but showed its power in a way that resonates with the public and prospective donors in particular.

Travis was honored by the opportunity to build this milestone campaign highlighted by this unique production.

The Good Life Youth Foundation

Our Director of Video Production Jordan Harmon chose a short documentary we created for the Good Life Youth Foundation.

We worked to not just capture the story of CEO/Founder Hasan Stephens, but also the idea behind the foundation. We wanted to showcase the concept the foundation was built on, utilizing hip-hop culture to break through barriers and help eliminate youth incarceration/recidivism. This was part of a bigger campaign to help the Good Life Youth Foundation build a new Hip-Hop Center for Youth Entrepreneurship.

It’s one of Jordan’s favorite projects because it drew critical attention to a national issue happening right here in Syracuse, which is one of the poorest cities in America.
