ABC Creative Brings Home Three National Awards

ABC was recently recognized for destination marketing efforts highlighting one of New York state’s most prominent attractions as well as food and brew.

A couple of travel websites designed and developed by ABC Creative recently earned Communicator Awards of Distinction from the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts. The national awards were bestowed upon Brew Central and Upstate Eats in the Travel/Tourism Websites category.

Brew Central was a travel initiative launched in 2013 that branded the Central New York Travel Region as “America’s Craft Brew Destination.” As the project approached a decade in existence, ABC went to work on a major upgrade to the Brew Central web presence.

Taking the latest trends into account and channeling our general craft brew fandom, we revamped the site, jam-packing it with fresh content, scroll-linked animation and super-cool features like the Brewfinder! We also put a major focus on the Stories on Tap YouTube Series, our epic 30-episode library of all things craft beverage in Central New York.

We really sunk our teeth into this the Upstate Eats Trail, a website highlighting all upstate New York’s homegrown specialties like wings, garbage plates, salt potatoes and spiedies. The website acts as the perfect appetizer for a foodie-focused road trip cooked up by our friends at Visit Buffalo Niagara, Visit Rochester, Visit Syracuse and Visit Binghamton.

ABC also earned a Telly Award in the Sports category for work we did with the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The Hall aired a new YouTube series that links fans to America’s pastime and ABC helped build that connection with several online spots. The series “Hall of Fame Connections” connects the unlikely players and events with plenty of surprises in between.

Using humorous animations and influencer marketing, we were tasked with capturing the target audience before and during other baseball-specific YouTube videos. We hit this one out of the park to the tune of tens of thousands of views.

Founded in 1978 to honor the best in local, regional and cable TV commercials, the Tellys now recognize a broad range of categories and receive some 12,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents. With over 6,000 entries received from across the U.S. and around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communication professionals.
