Join ABC as We Go Blue 4 Kids This Month

ABC wants you to join us as we Go Blue 4 Kids with McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center this month. The annual April campaign raises awareness about child abuse and prevention.

Things get started tomorrow, April 2, 2021, with the Go Blue 4 Kids Breakfast, which like the Pinwheel Ball was converted to a virtual event this year. The digital nature of the event actually makes it easier to attend and you can register here.

Attendees will hear from a great speaker in Christine Meredith, a survivor of child abuse who now empowers others with her inspiring story. Through strong faith, hard work and creativity she went on to become Ms. California, founded her own nonprofit foundation and pursued the path to becoming a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army. As told in her book, CinderGirl: My Journey Out of the Ashes to a Life of Hope, during appearances on the “Today Show” and before nationwide audiences, Christina’s story celebrates the transformative power of education and the potential within all of us to triumph over adversity.

In addition to the Go Blue 4 Kids breakfast, McMahon Ryan offers a number of opportunities for the community to show its support. Also virtual this year, the annual Pinwheel Ball on April 24 brings with it an awesome auction that raises tens of thousands of dollars for this crucial organization.

Attendees are in for a real treat as this year’s event includes a virtual cooking class and wine pairing with local culinary celebrities Laura Serway and Chef Billy-Brendan Ginity. Those who opt for this portion of programming will be provided a list of ingredients so they can create their dish with the guidance of Laura and Billy-Brendan on April 24. You can participate here.

Other Go Blue 4 Kids events include the Step Up 4 Kids virtual 5K and Pinwheel Challenge, two more great opportunities to show support. You can sign up for the run/walk here and participate in the challenge here.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, but McMahon Ryan fundraisers extend even further. You can sponsor a golfer in the unique 100 Holes 4 Kids event that takes place in June. 100 Holes 4 Kids is a unique opportunity for an exclusive set of community leaders and golfers to fundraise and compete in a 100-hole, 12-hour long tournament at Bellevue Country Club located right here in Syracuse.

Each year, McMahon Ryan assists more than 1,500 abused or neglected children. Their funding has decreased as that unfortunate number climbs. Please consider showing your support today so that they can continue our important work in the community when it needs them the most!
