(3/3/15 – WIBX-AM) Beer, cider, and wine makers, distillers and even hop growers from across Central New York met at Aqua Vino Tuesday for a craft beverage summit.
The goal of the summit was to discuss ‘Brew Central,’ a regional marketing plan to make Central New York America’s craft brew destination.
Members of all of CNY’s craft beverage community made it to the summit including representatives from Brewery Ommegang, F. X. Matt Brewing Company, Empire Brewing, Southern Tier Brewing, Good Nature Brewing, Adirondack Distilling Company and many others.
President of Oneida County Tourism Kelly Blazosky says when they took a look at what could bring more tourists to the area, the answer was simple. Craft Beverages.
Blazosky talks about Brew Central and the marketing campaign:
Brew Central features a website that showcases stories from local brewers and includes a map of all the breweries, wineries, distilleries, and cider mills in the region.
F. X. Matt Brewing Company CEO Nick Matt says recent changes in state laws such as allowing breweries to sell beer by the pint presents an opportunity to bring more people out to try new styles of the beer, wine, spirits and ciders that are made right here in Central New York.
The Brew Central website also has a brew finder option to help you find the Central New York beer, wine, cider or spirit that best suits your taste; a list of pubs that sell craft brews; an events page to find activities like >Utica On Tap; and news stories about craft beverage producers in Central New York.
